Georgina & Ben’s Destination Wedding in Skiathos, Greece
A beautiful Greek island wedding at Bourtzi Terrace & Achinos
There are some places that simply feel perfect for a wedding, and Skiathos is certainly one of them.
Georgina & Ben travelled from the UK to the beautiful Greek island of Skiathos for their destination wedding, bringing family and friends together for a day filled with sunshine, beautiful surroundings and plenty of fun.
Their connection to the island made it even more special. Georgina’s mum had actually been married in Skiathos many years ago, so returning to the island to begin their own married life felt like a beautiful continuation of the family story.
As a Greece wedding photographer, I was thrilled to be back in Skiathos to photograph their wedding day. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph numerous weddings in Skiathos over the years, and it’s always such an amazing feeling being back on this magical island.
The ceremony: Bourtzi Terrace, Skiathos Town
The day began with an intimate ceremony at Bourtzi Terrace in Skiathos Town, overlooking the Aegean.
With the beautiful Greek light, the sea stretching out beyond the terrace and the old town below, it was an incredible setting for a destination wedding.
The atmosphere throughout the ceremony was warm, emotional and wonderfully relaxed, with plenty of laughter alongside the more heartfelt moments. And the moment Ben saw his soon-to-be wife walk down the aisle? Well, let’s just say those tears in his eyes said it all.
This is exactly what I love about photographing weddings in Greece. The incredible locations are one thing, but it’s the people and the atmosphere that make it so meaningful.
A Skiathos wedding reception at Achinos:
After the ceremony, as the guests made their way to Achinos at Megali Ammos Beach for the reception, I took Georgina & Ben away for some time together, which included taking photographs around some of the most beautiful and iconic locations on the island.
It was the perfect opportunity to slow things down, soak in the surroundings and capture some beautiful portraits before heading back to Achinos, where their guests were ready to let their hair down and celebrate the night away.
Throughout the night, there was plenty of laughter, incredible food, drinks and, of course, dancing. There may or may not have been some ABBA — because it is a wedding in Greece, after all.
I always want my destination wedding photography to feel like the day actually felt — not overly staged or constructed, but full of genuine moments, beautiful light, personality and plenty of fun along the way.
The talented team behind the day:
It was so lovely to work with Eleni & Dimitris from Skiathos Wedding Hair & Makeup again. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing numerous weddings with these guys, and they’re always an absolute joy to work alongside.
The talented Groom Therapy provided the music for this epic celebration. It was great to work with this insanely talented musician once again. One key factor to an awesome musician is someone who knows how to get a party started — needless to say, he absolutely killed it and had zero problems getting everyone on the dance floor.
Alongside them, Joanne Seagraves was an absolute superstar. Not only was she the celebrant for the wedding, but she was also the wedding planner on the day, making sure everything ran smoothly right up until people were dancing up a storm at the end of the night.
I genuinely had so much fun working alongside Joanne. If you’re looking for a celebrant and planner who will make your wedding day enjoyable not only for you, but for all of your guests, look no further. I can’t wait to work alongside Joanne again in the future.
Destination wedding photography in Skiathos:
Skiathos will always have a special place in my heart. From the beautiful beaches and pine-covered landscapes to the charm of Skiathos Town, it’s an amazing destination for a Greek island wedding.
For couples travelling from the UK, Australia or elsewhere in the world, a destination wedding in Skiathos can become so much more than a single wedding day. It’s an experience shared with the people you love most.
Destination weddings have a completely different energy. When couples and their closest family and friends travel to celebrate together, it often becomes a week-long event. Everyone is ready to party, and the vibes are always high. This is exactly why I love photographing destination weddings so much.
For Georgina & Ben, Skiathos was a place that already carried a special family history, and I felt so incredibly lucky to be there to document the next chapter for them.
From the very first email, to FaceTime calls halfway across the world to make sure their dream day went off without a hitch, I knew this wedding was going to be amazing. Above all, getting to spend the day with two of the nicest people was the cherry on top. By the end of the wedding, it genuinely felt like we had known each other for years.
This is one of the things I cherish most about being a wedding photographer — being able to form such great connections with my couples that continue long after their wedding day. That, to me, is the greatest gift of all.

We honestly can’t recommend Kirk enough! From our very first call right through to receiving our final photos, he was absolutely amazing. He made us, our family, and our friends feel so comfortable and at ease throughout the whole experience.
The day before our wedding in Skiathos, Greece, he took the time to scout out locations, so when the big day arrived everything felt effortless, relaxed, and perfectly organised.
Booking suppliers for a destination wedding can definitely feel a little nerve-racking, but Kirk kept us updated with his travel plans every step of the way, which completely put our minds at ease.
We had a small, intimate wedding, so having someone as genuine, kind, and easy to be around as Kirk was really important to us.
And finally, the photos… they are even better than we ever imagined. We are absolutely thrilled with them and couldn’t be happier that we chose Kirk to capture our day!
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kirk for any Greek destination weddings!
